Man wounded in drive-by shooting

A 29-year-old man was shot and wounded during a drive-by shooting in Petit Valley on Sunday night.

According to a police report, at about 8.30 pm, the victim was standing along Simeon Road, Petit Valley with several others when a white Nissan Wagon sped past them. The vehicle turned around and slowly approached the group of people as the occupants pointed out guns and opened fire.

The 29-year-old man was shot in the right upper neck. No other injuries were reported.

Police said the same vehicle subsequently drove lower down the street and fired more shots at another group of people who were standing outside a shop located on the corner.

Luckily all escaped injuries.

The victim was taken to the St James Medical Infirmary where he was treated then transferred to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was said to be in a stable condition up to press time.

WPC Durham of the Western Division CSI processed the scene and a total of seven spent shells of 5.56 ammunition were recovered.
