Marijuana trees, seedlings worth $8.6 million destroyed

Marijuana trees with an estimated street value of $8.68Mn were destroyed by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the Maracas/St. Joseph district yesterday.

The exercise, spearheaded by ACP (Ag.) McDonald Jacob and Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Michael Daniel, was carried out under the supervision of ASP (Ag.) Leon Haynes, and included officers of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit and the Air Support Unit between 6:30 am and 2 pm on Tuesday 27th March, 2018.

During the exercise, the officers ventured two miles into a forested area off Wharf Road, where they came across eight marijuana fields with 8,680 fully grown marijuana fields and two beds of seedlings, which were subsequently uprooted and destroyed.

No arrest was made in connection with the finds.
