Commuters using maxi taxis from Port-of-Spain to Western districts, will face an increase in fares from February 6th.
The Route 1 MaXI Taxi Association announced the increase in fares this morning, via the following statement:
"The Executive of Route 1 Maxi Taxi Association on behalf of its members wishes to advise the travelling public as follows.
After careful consideration and lengthy deliberations concerning our fares we have arrived at the conclusion that we are left with no choice at this time other than to restructure them.
All destinations from Port of Spain will be increased by one ($1.00) dollar from four ($4.00) dollars to five ($5.00) dollars.
Short drops out of Port of Spain will also be increased by one ($1.00) dollar from three ($3.00) dollars to four ($4.00) dollars.
Short drops within Diego Martin, Petit Valley, Carenage and Maraval will however remain unaffected at three ($3.00) dollars.
These new fares are to take effect from February 06th 2017.
A more comprehensive listing of the new fare structure will be made available at a later date.
