The Met Office says that buoy data as well as reports reaching them indicate that sea conditions in open waters around Trinidad are moderate and around northern Tobago moderate to rough with wave heights reaching up to three metres.
It says these above-normal marine conditions are attributed to relatively strong winds in the lower levels of the atmosphere, which are currently agitating the surface of the Atlantic Ocean.
It says that these strong winds are decreasing and as such sea conditions will continue to slowly improve over the next 24 hours.
It is advising small craft operators, sea bathers and all other marine interests to exercise caution in any sea-related activities.
The Met Office says it is closely monitoring sea conditions and will issue an update at 12 pm on Tuesday 9th, January 2018, or earlier if the situation warrants.
