T&T sprint national champion Michelle-lee Ahye has been provisionally suspended for anti-doping violations
In a statement today, the athletics integrity unit, which is a sub-committee of the IAAF, said that the Pan American silver medalist has been suspended since August 30th while it investigates a "whereabouts failure".
Athletes are required to report their daily whereabouts in advance to allow for unannounced doping control.
In the event of three breaches in less than a year, they risk a two-year suspension.
A source close to Ahye said that on at least two of the visits in question she had already left T&T after nationals, and on another occasion sought permission from her coach and was granted said permission to come to T&T for a 4 day break.
Ahye who was sixth in the 100m at the world championships in London in 2017, is likely to miss this year's championships which starts in Doha on September 27th.
