The Ministry of Health says Cuban paediatricians are among some of the medical personnel who will soon be deployed to health facilities in Trinidad and Tobago to provide health services.
This forms part of the Technical Cooperation Agreement in Healthcare between this county and the Republic of Cuba.
The Ministry says these medical practitioners will work in health facilities which are currently operational within the public health sector.
The statement says that Minister Terrence Deyalsingh did not indicate that paediatricians and paediatric cardiologists will work at the Couva Hospital "as was erroneously reported in the daily newspapers".
It adds that this initiative is one element of the Ministry of Health’s overall thrust to enhance the service delivery associated with infant health in Trinidad and Tobago and to achieve national Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
