Ministry meets with IDB on water challenges in T&T

The Ministry of Public Utilities has met with officials of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to discuss the challenges to water supply in this country.

A statement by the ministry said that the IDB has been lending technical support to the Ministry of Public Utilities and WASA to strategically improve the country’s water supply.

It said this improvement in the water supply is one of the Ministry’s strategic mandates for the water sector and focuses on approaches to achieving continuous water supply by reducing non-revenue water, managing demand, institutional strengthening and building climate resilience in the water supply infrastructure.

The team was led by the Division Chief for Water and Sanitation Sergio Campos, who is based in Washington DC.

At the meeting, the IDB presented to the Minister and senior officials from the Ministries of Public Utilities, the Ministry of Planning and Development, and WASA a proposed approach to comprehensively address the water supply challenges facing the country.
