A male relative has been held in connection with the stabbing death of a 29-year-old Tobago midwife.

Reports indicate that at 3 am this morning Crystal Tobias was asleep at her mother's home in Plymouth, Tobago when the male relative broke into the home and stabbed her several time about the body.

Tobais had a restraining order issued against the suspect after she received a series of death threats.

She was staying with mother and told relatives she feared for her life.

Earlier this year, Tobais was struck by a vehicle while attempting to get out of her home.

The male relative was arrested and charged in connection with that incident.

He was released on bail.
