The Minister of National Security has issued a revised version of an earlier media statement in which the Minister thanked members of the defence and protective services for a "crime-free" Carnival.
The statement has received widespread criticism for the use of the words "crime-free", given that the statement itself it refers to the murder of a former soldier.
The newly-issued statement replaces the words "in making Carnival 2017 crime free" with the words "in minimising incidents of crime during Carnival 2017".
The rest of the statement remains the same as the one issued earlier.
