Students attending the University of the West Indies will be required to pay a compulsory fee of $500 beginning in September, to enhance and develop the amenities of the Campus.
The fee will go toward supplementing the existing allocation for the development and enhancement of student facilities and services.
The fee will apply to both new and returning students and will be applicable at the beginning of each academic year.
It will not be applicable, however, to specially-admitted and exchange students.
Students who do not pay the fee will find a financial hold placed on their student’s account, as is done with the non-payment of any other mandatory fee.
The fee is expected to help enhance and develop the wireless internet services (WiFi) on the campus, the student shuttle service and the campus’ sports facilities.
The implementation of the fee has the blessings of the UWI St Augustine Guild of Students.
