No bail for man charged with sexual offences against a minor

A Maraval man has been denied bail and remanded into custody after appearing before a Port of Spain Magistrate, charged with the sexual penetration and sexual touching of a 7-year-old girl.

Ted Dookie, 53, appeared before Magistrate Adia Mohammed, in the Port of Spain 7th Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 16th April, 2018, charged with one count of sexual penetration and two counts of sexual touching against a minor.

The matter was adjourned to Tuesday 1st May, 2018.

The incidents are alleged to have occurred between Sunday 17th December, 2017 and Thursday 1st February, 2018.

The victim is now in the custody of the Children’s Authority. Investigations were supervised by Insp. Gideon Dickson and W/Sgt. Michelle Lewis, of the Child Protection Unit Port of Spain Division (CPU POS), while WPC Makeda Edwards, also of CPU POS, laid the charges.

Dookie was previously charged in 2011, with having sexual intercourse with a female under 14 years old, in the Port-of-Spain district.

That matter is still pending before the court.
