NWRHA advises of changes made at Port-of-Spain General Hospital

The North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) is advising that the Haematology Clinic formerly housed on ward 44 of the Central Block has been relocated to the second (2nd) floor of the administration building at Port of Spain General Hospital (POSGH).

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the NWRHA said patients continue to receive treatment as required and full clinic services will resume on Wednesday 29th August, 2018.

It is also reminding members of the public that the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) out-patients clinic resumed today at the St James Medical Complex.

The NWRHA says that to facilitate the creation of further ward space for medical admissions from POSGH, the Gerontology ward at the St James Medical Complex has been relocated to Ward 10 at Caura Chest Hospital. Gerontology out-patients clinic will continue at St James Medical Complex.

The Accident and Emergency departments at both POSGH and the St James Medical Complex continue to provide full services to the public.

The NWRHA says it has resumed acute medical and surgical admissions at POSGH.

It says this measure of re-location was taken out of an abundance of caution to ensure the continued safety of our staff, patients and visitors in light of the recent earthquake on 21st August, 2018 and in the event of further aftershocks.
