The North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) says that at approximately 12:45 a.m. this morning, an electrical outage occurred at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
The NWRHA says that due to the collaborative efforts of the hospital’s in-house electrical team and the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) electricity was restored at the institution around 8:30 a.m.
It added that during the power outage, emergency measures were successfully employed and at no time was patient care compromised.
Whilst the electrical outage resulted in a temporary disruption of services, there were no cancellations of elective services and normalcy has returned to the facility.
The management of the NWRHA remains committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of both patients and staff in the provision of quality healthcare at the POSGH and all institutions under its purview.
