Official funeral for Bernard tomorrow

The late re­tired chief jus­tice Clin­ton Bernard will be laid to rest to­mor­row fol­low­ing an of­fi­cial fu­ner­al ser­vice in his ho­n­our.

A state­ment yes­ter­day from the Min­istry of For­eign and Cari­com Af­fairs said fu­ner­al will take place at the Church of the As­sump­tion, 70-72 Long Cir­cu­lar Road, Mar­aval, from 9.30 am.


The re­lease said con­do­lence books were avail­able for sig­na­ture by mem­bers of the pub­lic at the Hall of Jus­tice, Knox Street, Port of Spain, on Mon­day and yes­ter­day be­tween the hours of 10 am to 4 pm.

Bernard served as chief jus­tice from De­cem­ber 1985 to May 1995 and left an in­deli­ble mark on the Ju­di­cia­ry of Trinidad and To­ba­go and oth­er ju­ris­dic­tions re­gion­al­ly.

Bernard died on Oc­to­ber 26 af­ter ail­ing for some time.
