One man was arrested and a pistol and quantities of ammunition and drugs discovered by officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Morvant and San Juan districts, yesterday.
The exercise, spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Surrendra Sagramsingh and supervised by Sgt. (Ag.) Simeon Guelmo, was conducted on Tuesday.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to Romain Lands, Morvant, where they observed a man acting suspiciously.
Upon seeing the officers, the man dropped a black bag and ran off.
When officers checked the contents of the bag, they discovered a black and silver Taurus pistol, with six rounds of .45mm ammunition, along with two packets containing a total of 1.40 kilogrammes of marijuana.
The drug has an estimated street value of $14,000.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, officers arrested a 24-year-old San Juan man for possession of 30.7 grammes of cocaine and four grammes of marijuana.
Investigations into both finds are ongoing.
