A quantity of marijuana was seized by officers of the South Western Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Palo Seco district.
The exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. Neville Adams and Supt. Deonarine Basdeo, was conducted between 2 am and 4 pm on Wednesday.
During the exercise, officers were patrolling an area off Beach Road, Palo Seco, when they observed a man disembarking a pirogue with two crocus bags in his hands.
As the officers approached the suspect, he dropped the bags and ran back to the boat, which then sped off.
The officers subsequently retrieved the bags which contained 18 packets containing 11.273 kilogrammes of marijuana.
The drug has an estimated street value of $112,730.
Investigations are ongoing.
