PH taxi driver body found in ravine

Police are investigating the murder of a PH taxi driver whose decomposing body was found in a ravine in Chaguanas on Sunday night.

Ru Seecharan, 41 of Mc Bean Village, Couva was last seen by relatives on Friday.

Reports stated that around 10 pm, a passerby spotted the body in the ravine along the Connector Road in Carlsen Field and contacted police.

Chaguanas police and a team of detectives from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three, led by Sgt Elvin, responded and found Seecharan lying face down in the water with his pants pulled below his waist.

Upon removing the body the water, investigators realised his hands were tied in front of his body.

Investigators could not give an initial cause of death due to the decomposing state of his body and are awaiting the results of an autopsy today at the Forensic Science Centre.

The scene was processed by crime scene investigators who found Seecharan’s identification card in the bushes nearby.

Around 2 am today, police found his silver Nissan Sunny B15 crashed along the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Chase Village. It was impounded for forensic tests.

So far, investigators suspect that Seecharan was robbed killed.

No one has been detained for questioning so far.
