Piarco couple pleads guilty to gun, ammunition charges

A Piarco couple has pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of firearm and ammunition, after appearing before an Arima Magistrate today.

Daniel Jobe, 23, and Samantha Ramesar, 19, both of North Bank Road, Piarco, appeared before Senior Magistrate Gillian Scotland, in the Arima Magistrate’s 1st Court, on Monday 25th June, 2018, to answer to the charge.

The matter was adjourned to Monday 2nd July, 2018.

The couple was arrested after officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), Strike Team, executed a search warrant at their home, during an anti-crime exercise conducted between 2:00 am and 6:00 am, on Saturday 23rd June, 2018.

The search resulted in one Sig Sauer pistol, loaded with a magazine containing 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition, being discovered on a mattress on which the suspects were sleeping. Jobe and Ramesar, were charged by WPC Stacy Haynes of the IATF Strike Team, on Saturday 23rd June, 2018.
