One man was arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized, by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the Arima district over the weekend.
The exercise, coordinated by ACP McDonald Jacob, and spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Michael Daniel, was conducted between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm on Saturday, during which officers had cause to stop and search a silver Nissan Almera motor vehicle with a lone male occupant, in the vicinity of Rodney’s Supermarket, Cocorite Road.
The search resulted in one pistol and 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition being discovered in the vehicle.
The 38-year-old driver of Upper Sangre Grande was subsequently arrested in connection with the find.
