Police destroy $14.6 million in marijuana

Police have destroyed marijuana with a street value of $14.6 million dollars in an eradication exercise, in the St. Joseph.

A police statement says the exercise took place on March 28th, 2017 and was carried out at Wharf Trace, Maracas, under the supervision of Inspector Teewarie.

It involved officers from the Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau, the Air Support Unit and members of the Northern Division Task Force.

A campsite, 15 kilogrammes of cured marijuana, 14,600 fully grown marijuana trees, approximately 4,000 seedlings, two 600 gallon water tanks and 10 plastic barrels, were destroyed during the exercise.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.
