Police destroy $200,000 in marijuana; one man arrested

A 25-year-old Princes Town man, is expected to appear before a Princes Town Magistrate today, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, following a marijuana eradication exercise in Moruga.

Officers of the San Fernando Task Force and Organised Crime Narcotics and Firearms Bureau, conducted the exercise between 7:00am and 3:00pm on Tuesday 25th April, 2017, at Saunders Trace, Moruga.

There, officers discovered and destroyed two thousand fully grown marijuana trees and 500 seedlings, on approximately five lots of land.

The drug has a street value of $200,000.

Kareem Charles, a labourer of Indian Walk, Moruga, who was found in a camp close to the field, was arrested and charged with being in possession of one shotgun and two rounds of .12 gauge cartridges.
