Police destroy marijuana plants, seedlings worth $3 million

Police have destroyed marijuana trees and seedlings valued at $3 million.

According to a statement from the Police Service, officers of the South Western Division carried out several operations between 6am and 10am on Monday with the assistance of personnel of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment.

The exercises were conducted in the Cap de Ville, Penal, Point Fortin and Oropouche districts.

During the anti-crime exercises a pistol, a magazine, 4 rounds 9mm ammunition and 32 grammes marijuana were found and seized.

The statement says that 2000 marijuana trees and 3000 marijuana seedling together with a street value of $3 million were found and destroyed.

No one was arrested in connection to the firearm, ammunition and narcotics.

The exercises were coordinated by ACP Boyd. Investigations are continuing.
