Police destroy marijuana trees worth $2.5 million

Marijuana trees with an estimated street value $2.5 million have been destroyed by officers of the Cumuto Police Station, during an eradication exercise, a police statement said.

The exercise was carried out at Cunaripo Road, Guaico, Tamana, around 5 pm on Monday 12th June, 2017, where officers acting on information, journeyed to the location, where they saw a man tending to the field.

The suspect upon seeing the officers, ran off into the forest.

Approximately 2,500 marijuana trees were subsequently destroyed and police found five 12 gauge cartridges in a nearby camp.
