Police find shotguns, drugs and four Venezuelan women in Rio Claro house

One man and four female Venezuelan nationals were arrested and three homemade shotguns and over 200 rounds of assorted ammunition seized by officers of the Rio Claro CID, during an anti-crime exercise in the district.

The exercise was conducted between 2 pm and 9 pm, on Tuesday 20th March, 2018, and included officers of the Rio Claro Crime Patrol Unit.

During the exercise, the officers executed a search warrant at the Dades Settlement, Rio Claro home, of a 37-year-old labourer.

The search resulted in three homemade shotguns, eight rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, six rounds of .38mm ammunition, 180 rounds of .22mm ammunition, five rounds of 12 gauge cartridges and 480 grammes of marijuana seeds, being discovered in a bedroom of the house.

The four women, ages 20 to 42, were discovered in another room of the house.

They produced passports without immigration entry stamps to the officers and were subsequently detained.

The man, who was in the house at the time of the exercise was arrested in connection with the finds.
