Police: No one assisted us in drug bust, it was intelligence-driven

Police are debunking a statement that is circulating online, that seems to suggest that a woman held in today's drug and gun raid in Westmoorings, has assisted the police in the raid.

The statement said: "Now in: Krystiana Sankar the girl pictured in the yellow dress, step daughter of The Honorable Stuart Young was key into making this bust a success. She co-operated with police officials and gained the trust of the perpetrators resulting in the bust of what is said to be the biggest drug bust in West Moorings in the last two decades."

It was said to have been sent by a police constable.

But the police issued the following statement today:

"The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service wishes to advise that no one held in the recent sting operation in Westmoorings has cooperated with police officials as indicated in the following screenshot being circulated on WhatsApp and social media. This was solely a police intelligence-driven exercise.

Citizens are advised to refrain from posting misleading information that can cause anxiety and confusion. Members of the public are advised to check and stay updated with TTPS Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for accurate information on matters relating to crime and policing."
