Police recover car stolen as victim bought peppers

A vehicle which was reported stolen hours earlier is recovered by officers of the Northern Division Task Force and the St. Joseph and Tunapuna CIDs, following investigations into the incident.

The victim, a 37-year-old man of Cunupia, reported to police that he had gone to Havelock Street, Curepe, around 11 am, on Wednesday 20th June, 2018, to meet with a man to negotiate the sale of his Nissan AD Wagon.

Upon meeting the man, the two entered the vehicle and proceeded along the Eastern Main Road, to the Tunapuna market, where the man give the victim $20 and asked him to purchase some peppers for him.

The victim left and went into the market and upon returning with the peppers, discovered the vehicle and the man missing.

A report was immediately made to the police who conducted a districtwide search for the vehicle.

This resulted in the vehicle being found abandoned, but intact, around 4 pm, that same day, along St. Vincent Street, Arouca.
