Police rescue Venezuelan teenager from St Ann's house

A 17-year-old Venezuelan national girl was rescued by police officers at a house in St Ann’s on Sunday.

Four people, including a woman were arrested and remain in police custody.

According to a police report, a team of officers during an intelligence-led operation, including Port of Spain CID and the Anti Kidnapping Unit, led by Sgt Dolloway, Cpl Howard, and Cpl Murlain went to a house along Symond Road.

Police officers were told that the victim was brought to the house on Saturday night and being held at the house for ‘leverage’ in exchange for marijuana.

One of the male suspects, police said is from Las Cuevas.
