Police are calling on eyewitnesses to help them find the driver of a red-band maxi taxi who sped off after colliding with a cyclist along the Priority Bus Route, in El Dorado on Saturday.
According to a police report, at about 5.45 pm Leroy Calliste, 64, was riding his bicycle along the PBR, near a WASA facility, when he was struck.
Calliste was flung into a white Lexus motor vehicle.
Police said the driver of the Lexus was heading east behind the red-band maxi taxi when the maxi taxi pulled to the left shoulder and stopped.
The driver of the car told police that he attempted to drive past the maxi taxi but noticed a man on a bicycle ride out from in front of the maxi and was struck.
The cyclist ended up crashing through the car’s windscreen.
Investigating officers are now calling on members of the public, who may have witnessed the incident on Saturday to come forward to help police solve the case.
Anyone with information about the identity of the driver of the maxi taxi is asked to contact the police at 999, 555, 911 or the nearest police station.
