Police seize guns, camouflage clothing, bullet-proof vest; five arrested

House search exercises in the Northern Division over the weekend, have resulted in five persons being arrested and the seizure of three illegal firearms and other illegal items, a statement by the Police Service says.

Between 11am and 4pm on Saturday 8th April, 2017, officers of the Northern Division Task Force, executed a search warrant at Sunset Drive, Malabar, where they found and seized three grammes of marijuana.

A 37-year-old man who was found on the premises was arrested.

Officers, then executed a search warrant at Todds Road, Talparo, where they found and seized two shotguns and nine rounds of .12 gauge ammunition, along with a bullet proof vest and camouflage clothing.

A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with the find. And, on Sunday 9th April, 2017, between 11am and 2pm, officers conducted an exercise in the Arouca district.

A warrant was executed at St. Michael Road, Tacarigua, where officers found one black and silver Smith and Wesson pistol, with one magazine containing 14 rounds of .9mm ammunition.

Three men, who were at the house at the time of the exercise were arrested.

The exercises were co-ordinated by ACP Hackshaw and spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Jacobs.
