Police seize over $1 million in weed being transported in D'Abadie

Police have seized over $1 million in marijuana and have arrested three men.

According to reports, around 8:20pm on Thursday, officers attached to the Maloney Police Station, Northern Division Rapid Response Unit, Criminal Gang and Intelligence Unit stopped a silver Nissan Wingroad Wagon and a navy blue Kia Sportage, which were moving in convoy east along Serbian Avenue, Maloney Gardens, D'Abadie.

The officers intercepted the Wingroad which had two occupants.

PC Lee carried out a search of the vehicle and found one large black garbage bag which contained one crocus bag containing several brick packages wrapped in silver paper.

Police say when the opened it, they found compressed dry plant material resembling marijuana.

Cpl Stevenson along with PC Winter and PC Hannaway conducted a search of the Sportage which had only one occupant, and found two large black garbage bags in the trunk.

Each bag contained one crocus bag containing several brick packages wrapped in silver paper which when opened was found to containing compressed dry plant material resembling marijuana.

All three individuals were subsequently arrested and taken to the Maloney Police Station.

The exhibits together weighed 80kgs with an estimated street value of TT$1,080,000.
