Police Service mourns officer killed in line of duty

The Police Service is mourning the passing of PC Anso benjamin, who was killed in the line of duty.

The following is a statement from the Police Service:

"Commissioner of Police (Ag.), Stephen Williams, has expressed sadness and sorrow over the passing of No. 14862 PC Anson Benjamin who was pronounced dead at 11:15am today, Thursday 7th April, 2016, at the San Fernando General Hospital.

PC Benjamin had been hospitalised since Monday 4th April, 2016, in the Intensive Care Unit at San Fernando General Hospital after being shot in the head by armed bandits while responding to an attempted robbery in progress at the Chao Yong Supermarket, Naparima Mayaro Road, St Clements.

Police are still in search of the two male suspects who are believed to have been involved in the shooting that has led to the subsequent death of PC Benjamin.

PC Benjamin, age 45, enlisted in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service on March 1st, 2000 and was a father of five children. He was attached to the Ste. Madeleine Police Station."
