The Pluck Shop Association is putting consumers on alert that the price of chicken will be increasing during the first quarter of 2018.
President of the Association, Rashid Karim says the increase was long overdue however his members are maintaining the existing price for the Christmas season as they realize that times are hard for everyone.
However speaking with CNC3 news, Karim said they cannot hold strain much longer.
He says that with the increase in cost of living expenses, the pluck shop owners will eventually need to recover the extra costs.
Karim says the price of a processed chicken will increase from $11 a pound to $12, while the price of live chickens will increase by between 25 to 50 cents.
Karim says the economy is forcing their hands.
