Princes Town man charged with sexual assault of special needs woman

A Princes Town man, charged with buggery and grievous sexual assault against a 19-year-old woman with developmental delays, has been granted bail in the amount of $300,000 with surety, after appearing before a San Fernando Magistrate today.

Negus Charles, 38, a labourer, of Realize Road, Princes Town, who is also charged with indecent assault, appeared before Senior Magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine in the San Fernando 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 21st May, 2018.

The matter has been postponed to Monday 18th June, 2018.

Charles is alleged to have committed grievous sexual assault and indecent assault against the woman sometime between Thursday 1st March and Monday 30th April, 2018, while the buggery offence allegedly took place on Sunday 29th April, 2018.

The victim’s mother along with the victim made an official report to the Ste. Madeleine Police Station, on Tuesday 1st May, 2018, leading to the man’s arrest on Wednesday 16th May, 2018.

Charles was subsequently charged by WPC Vernessa Buntin, of the Ste. Madeleine Police Station.
