Red Force rot continues in Super50 slaying

The T&T Red Force was hammered by 172 runs in its opening Super50 Cup match against hosts Barbados Pride on Monday night at 3 Ws Oval.

Having won the toss and inserted the opposition, Pride racked up 278/9 from its 50 overs. Among the run-scorers were Kevin Stoute (74) and Roston Chase (50).

There were also cameo knocks along the way that helped the hosts. For instance, Shai Hope scored 47 runs from 50 balls while Jonathan Carter hit a quickfire 37.

Both Sheldon Cottrell and Roshun Primus ended with three wickets each for the Red Force while Sunil Narine finished with 2-29 from his ten overs.

What followed was a catastrophic batting collapse, one we've grown familiar with this season. Barbados Pride's opening pacers in Miguel Cummins and Kemar Roach led the destruction.

None of the top four batsmen got past five runs. Captain Denesh Ramdin counter attacked with 18 runs, which included two boundaries, but by the time he was out, the Red Force was already confirmed losers at 48/6.

The best partnership of the match was between Sunil Narine (51) and Sheldon Cottrell - the last pair at the crease. They put on 40 runs to add some respectability to the score, if that was possible.

Roach ended with 3-33 while Cummins had 4-35.

Bowled out for 107 runs, the Red Force's form seemed to have rolled over from the Regional 4-Day into the Regional Super50.
