A 19-year-old man, charged with common assault against his brother-in-law, has been remanded into police custody after appearing before a Rio Claro Magistrate today.
Ricardo Ramnarine, a labourer, of Railway Road, Rio Claro, was also charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition, when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Lucina Cardenas-Ragoonanan, at the Rio Claro Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 12th April, 2018.
The matter has been adjourned to Monday 16th April, 2018.
Ramnarine was arrested and charged by officers of the Rio Claro Police Station, following an altercation with his brother-in-law, on Wednesday 11th April, 2018.
The 29-year-old victim, also of Railway Road, Rio Claro, was at his home, when a male suspect known to him, entered and put a shotgun to the victim’s head.
The suspect proceeded to pull the gun’s trigger three times, however, due to stoppage, no shot was fired.
The suspect then fled the premises, resulting in the victim making a report to the Rio Claro Police.
While in transit with the officers, the victim identified his attacker, who was walking along Brothers Road.
The officers arrested the suspect and seized one homemade shotgun and one round of 12 gauge ammunition. WPC Tarcia Gillead, of the Rio Claro Police Station, laid the charges
