Popular bandleader Rosalind Gabriel has been appointed to the National Carnival Commission’s (NCC) Board of Commissioners.
The presentation was made today by Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts, Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly at the ministry’s head office in Port of Spain.
Gabriel is a longstanding member of the carnival fraternity and current President of the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Bands Association (TTCBA).
She is considered a local authority on Children’s Mas, having produced several children’s bands for more than four decades.
Dr Gadsby-Dolly congratulated Gabriel on her appointment and indicated that the Ministry looks forward to her ongoing contributions to this country’s carnival sector.
She expressed her gratitude and indicated that whilst the journey has not been an easy one for the TTCBA, she is hopeful that her appointment will unify the mas fraternity, reaffirming the old adage that “there is strength in numbers”.
