Santa Cruz man in court for stealing neighbour’s jewellery

Christoper De Silva, a 23-year-old labourer from Pipiol Road Santa Cruz appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate charged with stealing a gold hand band from his neighbour’s home.

Mr De Silva pleaded not guilty to the charge of larceny dwelling house, when he appeared before Magistrate Nazim Khan, on August 13th.

He was remanded into custody and the matter adjourned to Thursday, August 16th.

According to police reports, the 35-year-old female victim told police that she placed a gold hand band on a dresser in her bedroom on  August 2nd and went away. 

She said she discovered the hand band missing on  August 6th and made a report to the police. 

Investigations resulted in a man from the district being arrested in connection with the theft on August 12th.

 De Silva was charged by WPC Cowie Massy, of the Santa Cruz Police Station, on that same day
