Second man in court charged with shooting two police officers in Tobago

A second man is expected to appear before a Scarborough Magistrate today, charged with shooting with intent against two off-duty police officers, in Lambeau, Tobago, on August 30th, 2017.

Tyrell McKenzie, 20, of Fort Street, Tumpuna Road, Arima, is also charged with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition to endanger life, after being arrested by officers attached to the Scarborough Criminal Investigations Department, on Tuesday 17th April, 2018.

The officers were in the Lambeau district when a man alighted from a white Nissan Tiida and shots were heard.

One of the officers returned fire. No injuries were sustained by either officer.

The vehicle was later found abandoned along Tank Road, Signal Hill, with bullet holes and evidence of blood stains on the right rear passenger floor mat.

McKenzie, was charged by W/Sgt. Alicia Piggott, of the Scarborough CID, on Friday 20th April, 2018.

Kerwin Wilson, 35, of Virgil Alley, Calder Hall, was previously charged for the offence and appeared before the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court, Friday 8th September, 2017.
