Shooting victim ran into hotel for refuge

A man, who was shot in Piarco, fled into the nearby Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Piarco in an attempt to seek refuge from his attackers. 
The victim is said to be a man from Building 2, Oropune Gardens in Piarco. His name was not released. 
According to a police report, at about 11 am the victim was near the Popeye's restaurant when two gunmen opened fire on him. 
Officers said the victim ran to the hotel to escape from his attackers. 
Police officers from the Northern Division Task Force, Arouca CID and Emergency Response Team quickly responded and were able to arrest one of the suspects.
The victim, who was shot in the right hand just above the wrist, was subsequently taken by police to the Arima District Hospital where he was treated.
Investigations are continuing.
