A soldier is among three persons arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized, by officers of the Chaguanas HotSpot Unit, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the Charlieville district.
PCs Persad and McKenna were on mobile patrol along Pierre Road, Charlieville, around 4 am, on Saturday 1st September, 2018, when they observed the occupants of a silver Suzuki Ciaz motor vehicle, bearing no license plates.
The officers gave chase and subsequently intercepted the vehicle in the vicinity of the NP Service Station, with three male occupants.
As the officers approached the vehicle, they observed one of the occupants throw a firearm and two ski masks out of the car.
A search of the area resulted in a pistol and 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition and two ski masks being discovered along the roadway.
The three suspects; a 34-year-old soldier and a 38-year-old man, both of Chaguanas, and a 30-year-old of Couva, were arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing.
