Southex takes over UWI Fete from Caesar's Army

The University of the West Indies St Augustine campus has announced that in 2019, Southex will be working closely with the UWI Development and Endowment Fund (UWIDEF) committee in coordinating and executing all aspects of next year’s UWI Fete carded for Sunday February 3, 2019.

The announcement was made at a media launch for the fete today at the UWI St. Augustine Campus.

Southex takes over from Caesar’s Army who managed the fete over the past two years.

UWI says the primary focus of the UWI Fete remains to provide scholarships and bursaries.

Since 1991, over $16million has been provided in scholarships and bursaries under the UWIDEF to students in need.

George Singh, Event Manager and one of the Directors of Southex said the theme for 2019 – Champagne and Gold - will add a sophisticated twist to this celebration known as UWI fete.

"The champagne and gold theme will also transcend patrons, as women are asked to add a touch of gold, while men are dressed in white. White attire themed events and champagne parties are two of the most trending and happening events anywhere in the world today. We believe that this will create a different level of excitement,” Singh said.

The 2019 entertainment line-up will feature Kes D band featuring Kes Dieffenthaller, Dil E Nadan featuring Raymond Ramnarine, Nailah Blackman, Voice, Patrice Roberts, Ravi B, Rhapsody New Generation, and Laventille rhythm section alongside a cadre of DJs as well as some surprise acts which will be announced later into the season.
