A St Anns outpatient has been shot and killed by police during an altercation.
Reports indicate that police were called to the Rich Plain area around 7 pm on Thursday after residents reported that a man had been acting violent.
Upon reaching the scene, police officers attempted to subdue 30-year-old Paul Marchan.
However, the man resisted and launched an attack on the lawmen.
It is reported that Marchan slashed one of the officers with a broken bottle and then attempted to stab the other with a knife.
The man refused to surrender the weapons and was subsequently shot in the chest and abdomen by the police.
He was taken to the St James Health Facility but later succumbed to his injuries.
