Commuters travelling along the St Anns and St James routes from Port-of-Spain will have to dig deeper into their pockets to travel as taxi operators increase fares by one dollar.
According to the vice-president of the St Ann's Taxi Association Ronald Frederick, the hike in the fare will take effect from June 1st.
He added that all off route increases will be based on information from the tariff.
Frederick cited that the fare increase, which comes 8 years since the last adjustment, was as a result of the removal of the fuel subsidy and also of the cost of living.
