Suspected car thief detained by police

A 32-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of stealing a vehicle in the North Eastern Division.

On February 16th, an anti-crime exercise was conducted by Cpl Daniel, along with PCs Lezama, Foy, Orosco, of the NEDTF.

According to police reports, the officers were on mobile patrol in the Morvant district, when they were asked to be on the lookout for stolen vehicles in the area.

The officers observed one of the stolen vehicles, a white Nisan Tiida being driven by a 32-year-old man of 2nd Caledonia, Morvant.

The man was stopped and asked for proof of ownership.

He could not produce same, and he and the vehicle were conveyed to the Morvant Police Station pending further investigation.

While still on mobile patrol in the area, the officers discovered a black Nissan X-Trail abandoned at Leotard Street, Morvant.

Both vehicles were reported missing from the Carenage district.
