Teen charged with stealing 32" television from elderly woman

An 18-year-old man pleaded guilty when he appeared before an Arima Magistrate this morning, charged with housebreaking and the theft of a 32” flat screen Magnum television valued $2,100.

Jordan John Charles, of Morne Diablo Road, Brasso Seco, Paria, was granted $20,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Debby Ann Bassaw in the Arima 2nd Magistrates Court.

At approximately 10:30 am on June 4th, 2018, the 76-year-old victim properly secured her Morne Diablo Road, Brasso Seco, Paria residence and went away.

She returned to her home at 2:30 pm to find her television set missing.

PC Maurice Gervais conducted enquiries and recovered the stolen items in an abandoned vehicle near the home of the accused.

Charles was arrested at his home at 9:30 pm last night and charged with the offences.

He is due to reappear in court on Thursday 7th June, 2018, when judgment will be pronounced.
