The Tobago House of Assembly (THA) says that come September, motorists and commuters are likely to experience easy access to the new Scarborough Roman Catholic School when the access road, Smithfield Connector is complete.
The THA says this new road will provide an alternative route to the school from Claude Noel Highway via Mt. Marie Road.
It is purposed to reduce congestion in the Mt. Marie and Smithfield school zone.
A statement by the THA says that today marks two weeks since the Division of Infrastructure, Quarries and the Environment commenced work on the Smithfield Connector Road.
Road excavation and the preparation of reinforcement for drainage are in progress.
The scope of works would see the construction of a 246 metre road, complete with drainage infrastructure and sidewalks.
The THA says that the installation of access roads, like Smithfield Connector, forms part of a broader plan to improve the road network in Scarborough.
