Three men have been held in connection with a robbery at a mini-mart in Siparia and are due to appear before the Siparia Magistrates’ Court today.
All three are facing 13 charges arising from the incident after being charged by officers of the Siparia Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Kevin Nickie aka ‘Bug’, a 38-year-old labourer of Moruga; Jason Glascow, a 33-year-old of Siparia; and Enrique Rigoux, a 32-year-old taxi driver of D’Abadie, were arrested following investigations into a robbery at a mini-mart in Quarry Village, Siparia.
During the incident, which took place around 7:20 am on Thursday, four men armed with guns, entered the mini-mart and proceeded to rob and beat the owner and his relative.
The assailants then stole a quantity of cash, cigarettes and cellphones, and fired several shots at the establishment while making their escape in the owner’s black Toyota Yaris motor vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was later discovered parked in front of Nickie’s home on the same date of the incident.
All three men were jointly charged with three counts of possession of a firearm to endanger life, three counts of possession of ammunition to endanger life, three counts of shooting with intent to endanger life, two counts of robbery with violence, and one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Nickie was also charged with two counts of possession of firearm and ammunition for an incident in the Princes Town district, while Rigoux faces an additional charge of wasteful employment of police time.
Investigations were supervised by Sgt. Jaggernauth and charges were laid by PC Mulchan, both of the Siparia CID, on Sunday 28th October, 2018.
