Swift action by Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) officers operating in the Northern Division, led to the arrest of three robbery suspects and the seizure of two firearms along with a quantity of ammunition in Arima last night.
According to police reports, at around 11:54 pm on January 16th, officers were on patrol in the Northern Division when they responded to a report of a robbery in progress, at a private residence on Savannah Drive, Arima Old Road, Arima.
On arrival, officers had cause to forcibly enter the residence of the victim, who was being held hostage inside his home by the suspects.
The three suspects were quickly apprehended with no injury to the hostage or any of the officers present.
The officers also found and seized two 9mm pistols with magazines containing 29 rounds of ammunition.
The three male suspects; a 26-year-old from Maloney, a 22-year-old from Arima and a 24-year-old of Arouca, were taken to the Maloney Police Station pending further enquiries.
They are expected to be placed on identification parades in connection to several other robberies occurring in the Northern Division.
The operation included ERP officers 17596 PC Ramroop, 9383 PC Khan, 8762 PC Callender, 8976 PC Lewis, 4618 PC Lakhan, and 9403 WPC La Foucade.
