Two men aged 19 and 26 and a 30-year-old woman have been detained by police in connection with a series of robberies committed against salespersons in Central Trinidad.

According to police reports,  the first incident took place around 6:35 pm, when a saleswoman who was conducting business at the Preysal Flyover, was approached by a man who announced a robbery and relieved her of $173.00 and ran off.

Later that evening around 8:00 pm, another saleswoman was robbed at St. Mary’s Junction, Freeport, of $400.

The suspect escaped in a bronze coloured Nissan Sylphy motor vehicle, in the company of a male and female suspect.

Together, the suspects then proceeded to rob a third female saleswoman stationed at the Chase Village Triangle of two loaves of sweet bread, valued at $12.00.

Enquiries were conducted by WPC Joseph, of the Couva CID, along with PCs Hall and Mohammed, both of Freeport CID.

They were assisted by Emergency Response Patrol officers. Investigations resulted in all three suspects being held around 9:00 pm that same night and a quantity of the stolen cash was recovered.
