Three killed in Laventille overnight

Gun­men opened fire on a car ear­ly this morn­ing, killing a fast food out­let work­er who was on her way home from work. It two dead­ly shoot­ings in Laven­tille overnight that claimed three lives.

Dawn Pa­tri­cia Grant, 44, of Sixth Av­enue, Mal­ick, was a su­per­vi­sor at a KFC out­let. At about 1.15 am, she was seat­ed in the front pas­sen­ger sear of a dark grey Nis­san Almera car which was dri­ving through Dan Kel­ly in Laven­tille when e gun­men ran out from a track and opened fire on the car.


Grant was shot sev­er­al times in the head and up­per body. An­oth­er per­son who was in the car was al­so shot and wound­ed.

The dri­ver of the ve­hi­cle es­caped un­hurt and was able to take Grant and the oth­er per­son to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal. How­ev­er, Grant suc­cumbed to her in­juries at about 4.30 am.

In an­oth­er in­ci­dent, at about 8.30 pm on Wednes­day, two men were killed in a dri­ve-by shoot­ing in St Barb's.

The vic­tims have been iden­ti­fied as Dex­ter "Pull-Skin" Joseph, 31, of Up­per St Barbs, and Joel Moore, 34, of Red Hill, Mor­vant. A third man, a 25-year-old from Laven­tille Road, whose name was not giv­en was shot and wound­ed.

The three men were part of a group lim­ing at Blun­dell Al­ley when a car drove slow­ly past them. A pas­sen­ger in the car point­ed a gun at the group and opened fired on them. The ve­hi­cle then sped off.

At about 9.15 pm, a 46-year-old Mor­vant man was shot in the chest while walk­ing along In­de­pen­dence Square in Port-of-Spain. He man­aged to run to the near­by Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion for help. The of­fi­cers took him to the hos­pi­tal where he was treat­ed and ward­ed in a se­ri­ous con­di­tion.

The mur­der toll now stands at 287.
